Spaulding Adaptive Sports Centers is teaming up with trained instructors from impact:ability to offer an adaptive self-defense class.
This 4-hour in-person class teaches personal safety and assertive communication skills to people with a wide range of body types and abilities. Students learn to assert and protect themselves in unsafe and uncomfortable sutuations that involve both strangers and people they know.
Adaptive self-defense teaches students to use awareness and communication to avoid physical altercations, but also presents a range of accessible physical self-protection skills. Students practice self-defense skills in realistic scenarios in which a trained instructor plays the role of an aggressor.
